Padres Prospect Interview: Pete Laforest

Portland, OR-- Pete Laforest played in six games for the San Diego Padres this year, collecting five hits in 16 at bats after a torrid spring.

Things haven't gone quite as well down in Triple-A for the Canadian-born catcher - one of two on the roster with Luke Carlin.

Pete Laforest is hitting .207 with the Beavers but has homered in four of the last five games and has 13 dingers on the year - even though he has just one double.

He has shown good patience at the plate and is in the midst of a five-game run scoring streak where he has touched the dish six times with seven RBIs.

And five of his homers have come in the ninth inning, including a few that have changed the outcome of games.

We talked to Laforest about working with Carlin, his approach at the plate, why he became a catcher and whether he worries about making the majors again:
