Brett Bonvechio went yard for the second straight day while also adding a double and two runs scored in five at bats. The last time he homered in successive days was May 10 and 11, 2006 while playing for Double-A Mobile. He entered the year with 47 homers over 466 career minor league games. Twenty-six of those have come over the last two years after he netted 21 over his first four.
Nick Hundley went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer. He did, however, commit his fifth error of the year. The backstop has just three multi-hit games over his last 20 contests, hitting .208 over that span. He is hitting .350 in the fifth inning – the same frame he homered in on Monday – and .213 in every other inning combined. Three of his eight homers have come with men on base.
Josh Geer was handed a no-decision, allowing four runs on 10 hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. Geer has given up double-digit hits in two straight games, three of the last five and four times overall this year. Over his last three games, spanning 14.2 innings, Geer has surrendered 33 hits and given up 15 runs. Monday marked the fifth time this year in 14 starts he has given up four or more runs.
