Minor league roster moves

A flurry of activity within the San Diego Padres system has brought a new look to the Fort Wayne Wizards roster prior to the start of the second half of their Midwest League season.

A trade earlier in the day between the Padres and Chicago Cubs, which brought catcher Michael Barrett over to the San Diego side from Chicago, included Wizards outfielder Kyler Burke, who was sent to the Cubs organization.

Burke was hitting .211 with seven doubles, one home run and 21 runs batted in for the Wizards.

Infielder Tom King, who has been out of action since early May, was reinstated from the disabled list. King is one of two Wizards hitters batting over .300, with a .311 average in 19 games. He is tied for the team lead in doubles with infielder Jeremy Hunt at 10.

Infielder Jonathan Schemmel was promoted to the Padres' California League, Class-A team, the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 30 games, the former New York Met product was hitting .255 with three doubles and six runs batted in.

Shortstop Juan Ciriaco will head to extended spring training to work on revamping his swing - "a total overhaul" to see the ball better.

Outfielder Michael Campbell was reassigned to the Wizards from San Diego's extended spring training camp in Peoria, Arizona. In 36 games prior to being sent to Arizona, Campbell was hitting .231 with four doubles and one home run.
