Padres establish agreement with Fighters

San Diego, CA - The San Diego Padres announced today that they have established a working agreement with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan.

The Padres agreement with the Fighters will allow the clubs to engage in an exchange of scouting information as well as assistance in scouting efforts.

"We are pleased to reach an agreement with a club that has had as much recent success as the Fighters," said Towers. "We are confident that this relationship will be beneficial for both clubs."

The Fighters were Japan Series champions in 2006. In 2007, the club claimed the Pacific League championship and made their second consecutive appearance in the best-of-seven Japan Series. They were defeated in five games by the Chunichi Dragons.
