San Antonio (13-11) won 4-3 over Frisco (Rangers)
It wasn't the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, but Mike Baxter did his best imitation of a childhood dream. With the tying run on base and two outs in the top of the ninth, the outfielder delivered his fifth home run of the year and eventual game-winner. Baxter scored two runs on the day, drawing a walk and scoring in the third. Three of his homers have come over his last seven games and the outfielder has been on base in eight straight.
Greg Burke worked two scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the year. The right-hander walked one and struck out one – coming on with the Missions down by one. After giving up eight runs on three hits and four walks over 1.1 innings, Burke has allowed just one base runner over his last three frames. The closer has allowed runs in 10 of his 40 appearances, holding the opposition to a .137 mark with runners in scoring position.
Philip Barzilla came on in the second inning and worked 3.1 innings. He was on the hook for all three runs against on four hits, including three extra base hits, and a walk while striking out four. The southpaw had surrendered just four extra base hits over his first 17.1 innings with the Missions. He has held the leadoff man of an inning to a .211 average against and righties are batting .185 off him.

Eugene (11-17) won 7-6 over Everett (Mariners)
Tyson Bagley made his debut as a starter and was solid over four innings of work. The right-hander allowed one run on one hit and a walk while striking out four. The closer for Dallas Baptist this past season, Bagley came into short-season ball having thrown just 38.2 innings. He has added 19.2 innings with the Emeralds and has given up just 12 hits while fanning 27. He has surrendered just one hit to the leadoff batter of an inning to begin the year.
Angel Mercado got the start at third base on Tuesday – his first start ever at the hot corner. He did not get in a single play in the field and was replaced in the seventh inning with the Ems up by three. Mercado did contribute at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a homer. He drove in two and scored one. The homer was his sixth since joining Eugene and 10th across two leagues. He has three homers in his last three games and three multi-hit games in his last four.
Dean Anna reached base four times in five trips, going 1-for-2 with three walks. His lone hit was a solo homer in the second inning. The shortstop drove in two runs on the day and scored twice. Anna came into the game with two hits in his previous 22 at-bats but he has drawn a walk in four straight games, reaching base eight times over that span. He has four games with two or more walks. It was his walk in the top of the ninth with the bases loaded that scored the winning run.
AZL Padres (11-7) lost 7-6 to AZL Royals
Jason Codiroli reached base three times out of the leadoff spot, notching two singles and a walk. The outfielder also scored twice but was picked off first base in the third inning, going down as a caught stealing for the fourth time in eight attempts. Codiroli has four straight multi-hit games and eight such games across 15 overall. He has scored six runs over the last three games and his 17 runs scored are second-best in the Arizona Rookie League, pending the day's action.
Keisy Marte had the same 2-for-4 night as Codiroli, also drawing a walk but adding a two-base hit to his ledger. The shortstop also scored twice and drove in a run but did commit his fifth error of the season, leading to an unearned run. Marte has a hit in 14 of his first 17 games this season with six multi-hit contests. He has reached base at least three times on five occasions.
Jaff Decker had another multi-hit performance, coming up with a single and a double while drawing a walk, scoring twice, and driving in two - as the first three players in the lineup reached base nine times. The outfielder also swiped two bags, putting his total at four for the season. It is the ninth time this year he has recorded a multi-hit game in 14 overall and the fifth time he has reached at least four times in a contest.
