WR Hakeem Nicks – Started camp very strongly, but was slowed by a minor hamstring strain, which cost him some important practice time. Only caught one pass against Carolina and was thrown to just twice.
LB Clint Sintim – He just continues to impress. He's got great athleticism and appears to have very solid football instincts as well. Sintim played very, very well in the preseason opener, posting four tackles and a sack.
OT William Beatty – He shows signs of being a big-time athlete – and also shows signs of being overmatched at this level. He appears to still play a little high, but that's something that can certainly be fixed.
WR Ramses Barden – What else can we say? Let's just put him in the starting lineup and call it a day. Barden has so far surpassed initial expectations it's incredible. He sure looks like he belongs on this level, both on and off the field.
TE Travis Beckum – TEs coach Mike Pope absolutely loves that he has Beckum to work with. While they're working on his blocking a little bit, he's already a bona fide threat as a receiving tight end and will factor into this offense from the get-go.
RB Andre Brown – Was having a terrific camp before he ruptured his Achilles' tendon and was lost for the season. Brown, who was headed toward being a factor as a third-down receiving back and a key contributor on special teams, now faces a very long, difficult rehab.
QB Rhett Bomar – Of course he's dealing with the expected rookie mistakes and bumps and bruises, but Bomar most definitely has the arm, smarts and confidence to play in the pros. The fact that they have all the time in the world to develop him only adds to his potential.
CB DeAndre Wright – A minor injury slowed him down some after a pretty strong opening to camp. He appears very capable of tracking the ball and very rarely has looked out of place in Albany. He's probably fighting his fellow late-round draft pick for the final roster spot.
CB Stoney Woodson – A pick in the preseason opener shows just what type of playmaking ability Woodson possesses. The coaching staff has been pleased with how quickly he's picked up the defense. We're only two years removed from seventh-round pick Michael Johnson making a huge impact as a rookie so it would be unwise to count out Woodson.
