San Diego Padres prospects Allan Dykstra, Cole Figueroa, and Kevin Hansen each played a pivotal role in helping Fort Wayne win a Midwest League title. Dykstra had a tough year but came on towards the end, Figueroa blossomed in Fort Wayne after struggling in Lake Elsinore. Hansen has been a key contributor for more reasons than one.
Allan Dykstra was given a new swing to begin the 2009 season and stuck with it the entire season, seeing success in August when he hit .319. The first baseman also led the minors with 104 walks. Dykstra hit a pair of homers in the playoffs.
Cole Figueroa had a rough go in Lake Elsinore, battling injuries and a lack of rhythm. He ended up with the TinCaps, hitting .319 across 70 games and smacking .406 with eight runs scored and key hits in the playoffs. Included are clips from his time with the Storm as well.
Kevin Hansen wound up playing 97 games for the TinCaps, hitting .254 while playing solid defense. He found ways to contribute throughout the season.
