San Diego Padres prospects Dan Robertson and Blake Tekotte were essential cogs in Fort Wayne winning a championship. Robertson was consistent through the year and Tekotte's hot stretch coincided with the TinCaps rolling off victory after victory.
wasn't a heralded pick out of college but turned in a dominant performance in 2008 - his professional debut. The team's Community Player of the Year hit .317 with runners in scoring position, using a solid foundation to make contact with the ball. His simple approach translates well to the upper levels.
Blake Tekotte worked all season long on reducing the length of his swing. The outfielder found a hot streak in June and July, ticking off an 18-game hitting streak and 36-game on-base streak. He still has a wrap in his swing but has worked on calming it down. When he shortens up, Tekotte can get to the inside pitch and has the power and ability to turn on it and send it out of the park.
