Padres Prospect Video: Everett Williams

The San Diego Padres didn't sign outfielder Everett Williams until deadline day for signing draft picks. They feel they got a first-round talent later than most thought he would be available.

As a result of his late signing, Everett Williams only got a handful of games in with the Arizona Rookie League Padres and the Eugene Emeralds.

Williams went 7-for-18 in Arizona with three extra-base hits. He then went 5-for-25 with Eugene - hitting his first professional homer.

He also got a bigger audition in the Padres fall Instructional League, hitting .294 in 51 at-bats.

"I saw an athletic high school kid with very quick hands," former Eugene hitting coach Eric Peyton said.
