Jeremy Horst Profile
Left-hander Jeremy Horst, who was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds during the off-season, has had his contract purchased by the Phillies. Through 26 relief appearances with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Horst was 2-1 with two saves and a 2.11 ERA. With Cincinnati last season, Horst posted a 2.93 ERA in 12 appearances.
To make room for Horst, the Phillies designated right-hander Chad Qualls for assignment. Qualls was 1-1, 4.60 in 35 games with the Phillies, who now have ten days to dispose of his contract. Qualls has asked the Phillies to trade him, but there are no guarantees that the Phillies will be able to accommodate that request.
After Wednesday night's game, the Phillies optioned lefty Joe Savery to Lehigh Valley and purchased the contract of right-hander Brian Sanches. In three games with the Phillies earlier this season, Sanches was 0-1, 11.25, pitching four innings in relief.
