Sidearming right-hander Johan Yan earned his first save for the Aguilas Cibaenas after he struck out four batters in two scoreless innings. Yan walked one and plunked one but didn't allow a hit.
Licey's Engel Beltre went 1-for-3 with an RBI in his club's 11-0 win over Cibao. Gigantes third baseman Leury Garcia was hitless in four at-bats, striking out once. He also committed his seventh error of the winterball campaign.
Hanser Alberto, who saw action as an eighth-inning pinch-hitter for Cibao, singled in his only plate appearance.
Appearing in his first LVBP game in a few years, shortstop Elvis Andrus batted seventh for the Navegantes del Magallanes on Tuesday. Andrus went 0-for-1 but drew a pair of walks. He was also caught stealing.
Andrus' double play partner with the Magallanes is Astros second baseman Jose Altuve. He's also playing alongside former Rangers outfielder Endy Chavez, who batted leadoff for the winterball club on Tuesday.
Lara's Guilder Rodriguez didn't get a plate appearance on Tuesday, though he did enter as a late-inning defensive replacement in left field.
Yangervis Solarte played left field for Aragua and went 1-for-4 with a double, his seventh, and two RBI. Solarte, an infielder by trade, committed his third error.
Left-hander Joe Ortiz came out of the bullpen for La Guaira and didn't retire any of the three batters he faced. Ortiz gave up two runs on two hits (a single and a double) and a walk.
No Rangers appeared in Mexico on Tuesday.
The Leones de Ponce fell to 4-15 after losing yet another game on Tuesday, this time to Carolina. Left fielder Jared Hoying (0/3) and catcher Kevin Torres (0/2) combined to go hitless in five official at-bats. Torres dropped down a sacrifice bunt.
Dominican reliever Anyelo Leclerc, who worked the eighth inning for Ponce, surrendered a solo home run to Carolina slugger Kyle Blanks. He also struck out two while yielding that one run in one inning.
As usual, the Australian Baseball League is taking the midweek off before returning to action on the weekend.
