Cardinals announce early minors camp invitees

Two dozen top minor league prospects of the St. Louis Cardinals have been invited to early spring camp

The following 24 players will be attending the St. Louis Cardinals minor league early camp in Jupiter, Fla. This is the organization's third consecutive year of holding an early camp for selected minor league prospects. These players will report on February 22, with their first workout taking place on February 23.

14 of the 24 recently placed among The Cardinal Nation's top 40 organizational prospects for 2013. They include top ten players Tyrell Jenkins, Anthony Garcia and Carson Kelly as well as prospects number 11 through 13 in Jordan Swagerty, Stephen Piscotty and James Ramsey.

This group will be joined by the rest of the minor league spring camp invitees starting 10 days later. Pitchers and catchers will report on March 4 with their first workout the next day. Position players must arrive by March 6, with their initial workout on the 7th.

Official minor league spring training games begin on March 13 with intersquad action. The first external games begin the next day and run through March 31. The full minor league spring training game schedule can be found here.
