The Lakewood BlueClaws were honored by Minor League Baseball with a Golden Bobblehead Award

In-game promotions are a staple of Minor League Baseball. The Lakewood BlueClaws were honored for one of their promotions by being give a Golden Bobblehead Award from Minor League Baseball.

A Golden Bobblehead is coming back to New Jersey!

"Ball Brawl," a new on-field promotion the BlueClaws instituted in 2015, was named "Best On-Field Promotion" at the Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar on Thursday.

"Ball Brawl" combines "Capture the Flag" and a series of high-speed collisions in giant bubbles. The game was very popular among fans all summer long. Each "Bubble" has to retrieve three stickers but to get each sticker, they need to stand inside a Hula-Hoop, leaving them susceptible to a high-speed collision.

"This award is very meaningful for us and we are proud to bring a Golden Bobblehead Award back to the Jersey Shore," said BlueClaws General Manager Chris Tafrow. "Throughout all of Minor League Baseball, there are so many great promotions and ideas, and for us to be recognized by our peers for 'Ball Brawl' is truly outstanding. We are very excited."

The BlueClaws were one of five finalists in the category. Earlier on Thursday, each finalist showed a video to a group of Minor League Baseball executives at the annual Promotional Seminar. Each attendee voted for their top choice in each of the four categories. The awards were presented later that night at an event at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers.

The Golden Bobblehead Award will be showcased in the BlueClaws Executive Offices at FirstEnergy Park.
