Josh Tobias and Jose Pujols are big parts of the BlueClaws team that is hitting a combined .260 on the season. The tandem has also combined for 15 home runs and have driven in 68 runs for Lakewood.
Tobias, 23, is a product of the 2015 Draft, when he was selected by the Phillies in the 10th round out of the University of Florida, where he played with potential Phillies first pick in this year's draft, A.J. Puk. It didn't take Tobias long to burst onto the scene in the minors. With Williamsport last year, he hit .321 in 61 games and opened this season on the Lakewood roster.
His average has stayed high - currently at .295 - and he is third on the team in home runs with five and tied with Pujols for the lead in RBI with 34. tobias also has a .373 on-base percentage and a .448 slugging percentage with Lakewood.
Tobias was the Phillies Minor League Hitter of the Month for April, when he hit .347 against South Atlantic League opponents.
Pujols is the current team leader in home runs with 10, which is also tied for the most in the South Atlantic League. The 20-year old Pujols plays right field for Lakewood and is batting .240 with a .287 OBP and .430 SPC in 55 games. Last season, Pujols hit four home runs with Williamsport and batted .238 for the Crosscutters. He was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in July of 2012.
Pujols will start in right field, while Tobias will be on the bench as a reserve second baseman for the game, which will be played in Lexington, Kentucky on June 21st.
