Ben Lively has pitched in four games for Lehigh Valley since coming up from Double-A Reading and has wins in three of those games, with two of the wins coming last week. On Saturday, Lively threw seven innings of one-hit ball against Durham and in his two starts during the week, allowed just three hits and one run in 13 innings of work. Last Monday, he shutout Gwinnett in a rain-shortened six inning complete game, the first complete game shutout of his professional career, before pitching in the 16-1 win over Durham.
Earlier in the season, Lively picked up two Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors and hasn't been handed a loss in 21 consecutive starts, dating back to last July. This season, Lively is 10-0, with a 1.94 ERA between his 13 starts with Reading and Lehigh Valley. He has 69 strikeouts to go with just 23 walks in 79 innings of work.
Lively, 24, was drafted by Cincinnati in the fourth round of the 2013 Draft and came to the Phillies in a December 2014 trade that sent Marlon Byrd to the Reds.
