Rhys Hoskins is slowly putting together one of those seasons that quickly gets you noticed by the front office. His latest endeavor was being named the Eastern League Player of the Week for his offensive display from May 6-12.
In the seven games he played during the week, Hoskins put together an impressive offensive display, hitting .467 (14-for-30) with a .967 slugging percentage. Hoskins also scored six runs, drove in ten, collecting three doubles and four home runs, while hitting in safely in six of the seven games. In five of those games, he had multiple hits. On Sunday, he took an 0-for-4 against Altoona, snapping a nine-game hitting streak, during which he was hitting .461 (18-for-39).
Among all Eastern League players last week, Hoskins was the leader in hits (14), total bases (29), RBIs (10), slugging percentage (.967) and OPS (1.482) last week and tied for the lead in home runs (4). He also finished ranked among the weekly leaders in extra-base hits (7-2nd), batting average (.467-3rd), on-base percentage (.515-4th), runs scored (6-tied 4th) and doubles (3-tied 7th).
On the season, the 23-year old Hoskins currently ranks second in the league in homers (16) and third in RBI (46) while batting .278 in 59 games for the Fightins this season.
