The Phillies saluted outfielder Andrew Pullin as their Hitter of the Month for July and honored pitcher Nick Fanti with the Pitcher of the Month honor. Pullin's Reading teammate Jorge Alfaro was given the Defensive Player of the Month award.

Pullin opened the month on the DL, but came back to play in 20 games, hitting .346 with four home runs and 15 RBI for the Fightin Phils. Since joining Reading from the Clearwater Threshers in June, Pullin is batting .370 at the Double-A level, with five home runs and 20 RBI. Before being promoted to Reading, Pullin played in 36 games, hitting .293 with four home runs and 19 RBI.

The Phillies drafted Pullin in the fifth round of the 2012 Draft out of Centralia High School in Washington.

Reading teammate Alfaro, who has worked hard to improve his defense behind the plate, continued to impress defensively in July. On the season, Alfaro has a .997 fielding percentage and has thrown out 42-percent of the runners attempting to steal against him. The 23-year old catcher was acquired a year ago in the trade that sent Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers. Alfaro was injured at the time of the trade and was only able to play in three games with the GCL Phillies late last season.

Fanti, a 19-year old left-hander, was 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in five games, three of them starts. Fanti opened the season in extended camp and then reported to the GCL Phillies when their season opened in June. Last month, Fanti struck out 31 hitters in 24 innings of work, allowing just 16 hits. On the season, Fanti is 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA for the GCL Phils, following a 2015 season where he went 1-1 with a 2.55 ERA for the GCL Phillies.

Fanti was drafted by the Phillies in the 31st round of the 2015 Draft out of Hauppauge High School in Smithtown, NY.
