The Williamsport Crosscutters had three players chosen to play in the New York - Penn League All-Star Game.

The New York - Penn League All-Star Game will be played Friday night and three members of the Williamsport Crosscutters will be a part of the South Team. Pitchers Adonis Medina and Ranger Suarez (pictured) will be joined by outfielder Jesus Alastre on the South roster.

The New York-Penn League has released the rosters for 2016 All-Star Game in Fishkill, New Yorkn. The Hudson Valley Renegades will host the 12th annual New York-Penn League All-Star game on Tuesday, August 16th at Dutchess Stadium.

Williamsport Crosscutters picked to play in the game are right-hander Adonis Medina, left-hander Ranger Suarez and outfielder Jesus Alastre.

Medina has made nine starts for Williamsport and is 4-2 with a 2.23 ERA in those starts. In 48 1/3 innings, he;s allowed 32 hits and has struck out 22 batters, while walking 15. The 19-year old out of the Dominican Republic was signed as an amateur free agent in May of 2014 and pitched in the Dominican Summer League in 2014 prior to coming to the states and pitching for the GCL Phillies last season. Medina had a no-hitter for 8 1/3 innings against Auburn in late June before giving up a base-hit. The outing stretched his scoreless innings streak to 21 straight, and he added another shutout inning in his next start against Batavia before giving up a run.

Suarez made news earlier this season when he threw a seven-inning no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against Auburn on July 26. The Venezuelan left-hander is 5-1 and has posted an ERA of 2.72 in nine starts for the Crosscutters. Suarez was signed as an amateur free agent in April, 2012 and pitched in the Venezuelan Summer League for three seasons before pitching in six games with the GCL Phillies in 2015.

Alastre, 19, opened the season with Williamsport, but also played in four games with the GCL Phillies in late June. In 30 games with the Crosscutters, he's hitting .312, with a .369 on-base percentage. The Phillies signed Alastre as an amateur free agent in July of 2013, but he didn't play for them that summer. He started his pro career in the Venezuelan Summer League and last season, played in 24 games with the GCL Phillies, where he hit.268.

The rosters consist of two players at every infield position, two catchers, six outfielders and 10 pitchers. 

The North Team will be comprised of players from Auburn, Batavia, Connecticut, Hudson Valley, Lowell, Tri-City, and Vermont; and the South Team will be represented by players from Aberdeen, Brooklyn, Mahoning Valley, State College, Staten Island, West Virginia and Williamsport. 

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers and West Virginia Black Bears each have six players on Team South, while the host Hudson Valley Renegades lead Team North with seven players. In 2015, the Williamsport Crosscutters placed a record eight players on Team North.
