The GCL Phillies won 7-5 and 4-0 on Monday against the rival GCL Blue Jays

There were just three of the Phillies minor league teams in action Monday and the GCL Phillies were the only one to come away with a win. Actually, two wins, as they swept the GCL Blue Jays.

While the late season slides continued for Lehigh Valley and Clearwater on Monday, the GCL Phillies took both ends of a double-header from the GCL Blue Jays.

In game one, Kyle Young (2-0) allowed just one earned run in 4 1/3 innings in relief to get the win. Young allowed three hits, but didn't walk a batter, while striking out three. Jhon Nunez allowed a a run in his one inning of work, but picked up the save - his third - in the Phillies 7-5 win.

Daniel Brito finished a double short of hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-4. The home run was the first of Brito's professional career and came in the eighth inning, with a runner on and two out, to give the Phillies what seemed like a comfortable 7-2 lead. Brito also stole his seventh base of the season in the game.

In game two, Brito got the double that he needed in the first game, and scored a run in a 4-0 shutout over the Blue Jays. Cole Stobbe and Mickey Moniak each had two hits in the game, with Stobbe hitting his first home run and scoring two runs. Moniak had a double, drove in a run and scored a run in the win.

Mauricio Llovera (6-1) threw five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and a walk, while fanning six batters. Llovera's ERA lowered to 2.09 on the season. Oskerlly Sanchez and Jose Nin each threw a perfect inning in relief of Llovera.

With the sweep, the GCL Phillies moved ahead of the Blue Jays in the Northwest Division by one game. The Phillies have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games to make up ground on the Blue Jays, who are 5-5 during that span.
