A win over the GCL Blue Jays moved the Phillies into sole possession of first place.

With just seven games remaining in the regular season, the GCL Phillies moved into sole possession of first place in the league's Northwest Division. Sixto Sanchez threw another big game for the Phillies.

The Gulf Coast League season is winding down and the GCL Phillies have put themselves in control of their own destiny. With a 9-4 win over the GCL Blue Jays on Wednesday, the Phils have taken a one-game division lead. There are seven games left in the GCL regular season and the Phillies and Blue Jays, who have battled for the division lead all season, will meet three more times, including in the final two games of the season.

Sixto Sanchez (5-0) threw another six shutout innings for the Phillies, allowing just two hits and not walking a batter to get the win. Sanchez has now allowed just one earned run over his last 42 innings and three earned runs over 54 innings this season for an ERA of 0.50 on the season. In those 54 innings, Sanchez has allowed 33 hits and has walked just eight batters, six of which came in his first 21 innings.

Offensively, Cole Stobbe, the Phillies third round pick in this year's draft, hit his fourth home run of the season Wednesday. All four of his home runs have come in the last eight days. Rodolfo Duran added his third home run of the year in the game, while Danny Zardon went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Duran finished the day with four RBI on two hits.

The Phillies and Blue Jays meet again Thursday in Dunedin.
