Both Lehigh Valley and Reading find themselves in a deep hole after two games in the playoffs.

Lehigh Valley and Reading came into the postseason with big plans. After two games, neither team has been able to put a mark in the win column and both are facing elimination Friday night.

AAA - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre [Yankees] 7, Lehigh Valley 0

Scranton leads the best-of-five series 2-0, with the series heading to Scranton.

WP: Phil Coke, LP: A. Vasquez, SV: none

HR: none

Hitting Recap: Lehigh Valley managed just four hits, but they were all for extra bases, including three doubles and a triple. Taylor Featherston hit the ball hard every time at the plate, but had just a first inning leadoff triple to show for it. The IronPigs were unable to get him home, signaling a sign of things to come for the night. J.P. Crawford and Nick Williams continue to slump. In their last 35 games, they are hitting a combined .172 (36-for-209) with three home runs and 14 RBI. The IronPigs are 17-18 over that span. In their previous 34 games, they were a combined .295 with seven home runs and 44 RBI.

Pitching Recap: Anthony Vasquez never got on track and allowed six hits and two walks through four innings, which resulted in four Scranton runs. James Russell came on in the fifth and was immediately bombed by the RailRiders, giving up two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. Ironically, it was two pitchers who have struggled lately, Gregory Infante and Dalier Hinojosa, who had the best nights, with Infante throwing two perfect innings and striking out three and Hinojosa striking out all three batters in his one inning of work.

IronPigs Notes: Phil Klein (5-1, 1.52) goes for Lehigh Valley in game three, against Brady Lail (7-6, 5.07)... Manager Dave Brundage has stuck with the same lineup for each of the first two games, and says he's likely to run it out in game three. "It's a little late to start messing with the lineup," he said... In the other ILDS, Columbus beat Gwinnett 6-4 to even that series, as it heads for Gwinnett.

AA - Trenton [Yankees] 9, Reading 4

Trenton leads the series 2-0 as it heads to Reading.

WP: Will Carter, LP: Ricardo Pinto, SV: none

HR: Reading - Dylan Cozens; Trenton - none

Hitting Recap: Dylan Cozens homered for Reading - a solo shot - in the sixth inning, for the only home run of the night. Roman Quinn singled in the top of the first, quickly stole second, moved to third on a groundout and then scored on another groundout. Quinn added a second single later in the game to drive in a run, and also drew a walk... Scott Kingery was the only other Reading player with two hits.

Pitching Recap: Reading tried five different pitchers and only Alexis Rivero had a strong outing, giving the Fightins 2 2/3 innings, allowing just one hit and one walk and no runs. Starter Ricardo Pinto lasted just three innings, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks.

Fightins Notes: Elniery Garcia makes his Double-A debut in a tough spot for the Fightins on Friday night. He'll be opposed by Justus Sheffield, who has pitched just one game at Double-A and it was against Reading last Friday. Sheffield went four innings, gave up two hits and three walks resulting in one unearned run.

Low-A - Lakewood at Hagerstown [Washington]

Lakewood has a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

Tyler Watson pitches for Hagerstown, with Jose Taveras going for Lakewood.
