The Lehigh Valley IronPigs were eliminated, while the Reading Fightins battled back in their series with Trenton

While Reading pounded out 16 hits and scored 13 runs, Lehigh Valley would have loved to have some of that offense. The IronPigs were eliminated in an 11-3 loss to Scranton. Meanwhile, Lakewood advanced to the SAL Finals.

AAA - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre [Yankees] 11, Lehigh Valley 3

Scranton wins the series 3-0 and advances to the International League Finals.

Hitting Recap: Jesmuel Valentin continued his late season offensive surge with two hits and he drove in all three of the IronPigs runs. In the three-game series, Valentin hit .444 (4-for-9). During the regular season, Valentin hit a combined .269 between Lehigh Valley and Reading, but hit .300 (9-for-30) over the final nine games of the regular season... Nick Williams left the game in the fourth inning after crashing into the fence down the right field foul line at full speed. Williams was 1-for-2 on the night prior to exiting.

Pitching Recap: Phil Klein ran into huge trouble in the fourth inning. A fielding error by Taylor Featherston opened the inning and the next hitter smacked a ground ball off the Klein's ankle for an infield single. A ground-rule double and a three-run home run by Cito Culver followed and in the end, Klein gave up eight runs in the inning and ten runs overall, two of which were unearned.

IronPigs Notes: The game was delayed at the outset by a 2-hour, 11-minute rain delay... In the other ILDS, Gwinnett pounded Columbus 11-1 to take a 2-1 lead in that series, with game four scheduled for Saturday in Gwinnett. Game five would be Sunday in Gwinnett.

AA - Reading 13, Trenton [Yankees] 5

Trenton still leads the series 2-1, with game four Saturday night in Reading.

Hitting Recap: Jorge Alfaro had himself a night for Reading. The top catching prospect went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored. In the three games against Trenton, Alfaro is batting .462 (6-for-14) with two home runs and five RBI...Reading had 16 hits, nine of which were for extra bases (five doubles and four home runs).

Pitching Recap: Elniery Garcia picked a good spot to make his AA debut. The lefty threw six innings, giving up three runs - two earned - on seven  hits and one walk. Garcia struck out four. He also picked off a runner at first, but on another attempt, made a bad throw for an error... Will Morris allowed just two hits in his three innings of work, but both were solo home runs.

Fightins Recap: Game Four is Saturday night in Reading. Tyler Viza (4-6, 4.69) gets the start for the Fightins against Caleb Smith (3-5, 3.96) for Trenton. A Reading win would force a deciding Game Five Sunday evening, with John Richy getting the start for Reading.

Low-A - Lakewood 5, Hagerstown [Nationals] 2

Lakewood wins the best-of-three series 2-0 and advances to the South Atlantic League Finals.
