Phillies hitters continue to struggle in the Arizona Fall League

Through three games, the Arizona Fall League hasn't been kind to Phillies hitters. With one exception, the Phillies pitchers haven't fared much better, and the Scottsdale Scorpions are off to a 1-2 start in Arizona.

Peoria Javelinas 5, Scottsdale Scorpions 2

WP: Kyle McGrath (Padres) (1-0), LP: Adam Hofacket (Angels) (0-1), SV: Jason Jester (Padres) (1)

HR: SCO - Hunter Cole (Giants) (2); PEO - Zach Vincej (Reds) (2)

Hitting Recap: Scott Kingery started at second base for Scottsdale and went 0-for-4 on the day, while Mitch Walding started at third base and went 0-for-3. Phillies hitters are now a combined 1-for-19 (.052) through the first three games of the AFL season.

Pitching Recap: Jeff Singer and Victor Arano both made their AFL debut on Thursday, with mixed results. Singer threw a perfect inning of relief, while Arano gave up two earned runs in one inning of work. Arano struggled with his control, walking three batters and giving up a solo home run to Zach Vincej in the eighth inning.

Scorpions Notes: Cole has been stealing the offensive show so far for the Scorpions. The Giants prospect has two of the three Scorpions home runs and leads the team with 10 total bases. He's hitting .429/.500/1.429 through his first seven at-bats... James Kaprielian (Yankees) leads the team with three innings pitched and he's allowed just one baserunner, while striking out six batters, which leads the AFL.
