Series Preview: Expos Come To Town

The Phillies need to take out their frustrations and anger on the Montreal Expos. Lately, the biggest Phillies news has come from the clubhouse instead of the field. Starting Tuesday night, the Montreal Expos come to town for a quick two-game series, which will feature Javier Vazquez, who comes in with a 26 inning shutout streak going, including shutting down the Phillies for eight innings last week in Montreal.

Montreal Expos (71-67) @ Philadelphia Phillies (73-63)

The Philadelphia Phillies, winners of three of their last four, will begin a two game series against the Montreal Expos at Veterans Stadium. The Phillies, trailing the Marlins by one game for the lead in the National League Wild Card race look to make up some ground against the Expos and Marlins.

After some incidents in the clubhouse the Phillies look to continue winning in a very heated battle for the NL Wild Card. In a surprising move the Phillies released the best pinch hitter in baseball in Tyler Houston. The move came a couple of days after Larry Bowa's clubhouse tirad. This will affect the Phillies because they have just lost their best hitters off the bench.

The Phillies added some fresh arms to the bullpen with the September call-ups and they also added veteran catcher Kelly Stinnett, who they acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Stinnett has added some much needed playoff experience to a young Phillies team and will also allow Todd Pratt to be used as a pinch-hitter in key spots. Stinnett has played for the Mets, Brewers, the Reds most recently and the Diamondbacks when they enjoyed their playoff runs.

Going for the Phillies in the first of the two game set will be Amaury Telemaco. Telemaco is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts this year after being called up when Brandon Duckworth failed to achieve quality starts. Amaury Telemaco will be going against Montreal's ace Javier Vazquez.

On Wednesday night Kevin Millwood will be going for his 14th win of the season. Millwood will be facing T.J. Tucker making only his fifth start of the season.
