The Lakewood BlueClaws look to salute another second-place finisher during the 2017 season.

A big snafu at the Oscars Sunday night has been turned into a promotional opportunity by the Lakewood BlueClaws. The 'Claws didn't waste any time to jump on a national story with a local angle.

On Monday, just about 12 hours after the Oscars suffered their biggest blooper in the history of the award, the Lakewood BlueClaws issued a special invitation to the cast and crew of La La Land, which was originally announced as the winner for Best Picture. Instead, it was a mistake and the Oscar actually went to the cast and crew of Moonlight. As shown in the picture above, the audience was astounded, to say the least.

Here is the official invitation issued by the Lakewood BlueClaws:

The BlueClaws have invited the cast and crew of La La Land to FirstEnergy Park, an east-coast "City of Stars," and a 2017 BlueClaws home game.

They are welcome to attend any of the team's 13 day games - games not played under any Moonlight - this year.

The invite comes one day after the on-stage snafu at the Oscars at which the film was briefly, and mistakenly, announced as the winner of Best Picture.

Princeton native and film director Damien Chazelle can throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"After our runner-up finish in the 2016 South Atlantic League Championship Series, we too know what a runner-up finish feels like," said BlueClaws General Manager Chris Tafrow. "We hope this invite can offset some of the frustration felt last night."

In addition, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will be banned from the ballpark for the duration of the 2017 season.

Surely, they've got to accept that invitation, right? Kudos the the 'Claws for coming up with a quick-witted response and here's hoping that Princeton's own Damien Chazelle shows off his arm at FirstEnergy Park this summer.
