The Phillies were off Thursday, preparing for their weekend showdown with the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park.
Richmond pitchers held Scranton to just four hits, including two from Mark Budzinski. Budzinski has now hit in six of the seven games that he's gotten an at bat in and is hitting .433 (13-for-30).
Robert Ellis (0-1) took the loss, going 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs - two earned. Eude Brito was hit for two earned runs in 1 1/3 innings of work, while Sean Fesh and Martire Franco each threw one shutout inning of work.
Zack Segovia (1-1) gave up just one earned run on four hits and no walks over six innings Thursday night. Segovia also struck out two hitters and lowered his season ERA to 3.48 for Clearwater.
The BlueClaws opened up a four game series against the Lake County Captains Thursday night with a 5-1 win. Brad Harman led the offense going 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Lakewood rallied in the third plating two runs on one hit off Captains starter Reid Santos (0-1). Harman and Sean Gamble both walked with one out and Jason Jaramillo stepped up and ripped a two-run double to center giving the BlueClaws a 2-1 lead.
The BlueClaws added two more runs in the fifth to increase the lead to 4-1. Gamble and Harman would set the table again, this time both connecting for singles. Jaramillo followed with an RBI single and Jason Drobiak connected for a sacrifice fly to score Harman from third.
Jaramillo collected three RBI in the game with a double and a single. Gamble also had two hits in the game with two runs scored and a stolen base.
Derek Griffith (1-0) pitched six strong innings allowing just one run on three hits while striking out nine and walking two. Chris Honsa pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Joe Bisenius closed out the ninth for the BlueClaws.
