Maloney's 10th Win Paces BlueClaws

LAKEWOOD, NJ --- Matt Maloney recorded his tenth win of the season over the West Virginia Power. The 4-1 victory put him tied for first in wins (10), first in strikeouts (114) and in earned run average (1.59).

In seven innings of work, Matt Maloney allowed one run, three walks, and three hits while striking out four.

"I felt good today," Maloney said. "I had good command of my fastball. I walked a few guys, but overall, felt pretty good out there."

"He threw the ball real well," manager Dave Huppert said. "He changed speeds and made some big pitches in the seventh inning when he had to. He walked a few guys, but overall his command was good."

Since May 22, the 22-year-old out of Mississippi is 6-1 in eight starts with a 1.17 earned run average.

"I think I have put myself in a real good situation and have helped the team win ball games," Maloney said. "The team has been playing well behind me, and everything has been going well out there so far."

Assistant General Manager, Mike Arbuckle, and Farm Director, Steve Noworyta, were each on hand for Maloney's performance. As Maloney continues to dominate the South Atlantic League, High Class-A Clearwater is a phone call away.

"I think this ball club is here to win and that they will leave him alone to see where this team can go down the stretch," Huppert said.
