They'll start by touching base on Jamie Moyer and his response will gauge where the Phillies go next. If it starts looking like Moyer will be exiting Philadelphia, the Phillies will get a lot more serious about pitchers like Derek Lowe or A.J. Burnett.
Also look for the Phillies to touch base with some outfield possibilities. Raul Ibanez is a popular choice, but may not be the best fit for the Phillies, considering that he's a left-handed hitter and will cost them a prospect for signing him. Rocco Baldelli is a much better fit for the Phillies, since he's a right-handed hitter and doesn't require the loss of a prospect to be signed.
Outside of those free agents, the Phillies will look for a trade partner to fill their outfield hole in left field. The Chicago White Sox have Jermaine Dye, but have been asking too much for him in return and so far, haven't lowered their asking price.
It should be a busy week, culminating with the annual Rule 5 Draft on Thursday.
