-Albuquerque had an interesting game. After falling behind 4-0 early, the Topes came back with 6 in the 4th, blew the lead again, scored 4 in the 8th but allowed 3 in the bottom half which tied the score. In the top of the 14th, Josh Fields tripled to lead off the inning. Scott Van Slyke and Josh Wall grounded out, stranding Fields at third, but Tim Federowicz, who came into the game in the 12th, singled to the shortstop and plated the go-ahead run. Brent Leach allowed a leadoff single in the bottom of the frame but struck out the next three batters to end the game. Alex Castellanos reached base 5 times, including two intentional walks. SVS clubbed his 7th double and collected 4 hits. Both are hitting .371.
-Ethan Martin picked up his second win of the season and pitched better than his line score would indicate. Both his walks could have just as easily been strikeouts, which is encouraging given his control problems. Each of the first four batters in the lineup had two hits, with Rafael Ynoa collecting 4, including 2 doubles. The Lookouts ran into some trouble in the 7th, with Javier Solano allowing a pair of runs to reduce the lead to 1, leaving with 1 out and the tying run on 2nd. Shawn Tolleson came in and struck out the next two batters. After his third straight strikeout, Tolleson allowed a double and an infield single, but would strike out the next two batters to end the threat.Shawn now has 13 K's and no walks in 6.2 innings.
-The pitching line of the day goes to Chris Reed, who shut down Visalia for 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits, no runs, no walks and striking out 8. Opposing batters are hitting just .173 against Reed thru his first 4 starts. Chris Jacobs scored both the Quakes' runs, being driven in by Tony Delmonico each time. Scott McGough and Logan Bawcom pitched 2 perfect innings to lock it up.
-Brandon Martinez lasted just 3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, striking out just 1. Ryan O'Sullivan fared slightly better in 4 innings, giving up a pair of runs, though one was unearned. Jesus Arredondo returned to the lineup after missing three games and had two hits, including a double. However, he was also caught stealing and committed an error. Noel Cuevas had two singles and is 4 for his last 10. James Baldwin has a 4 game hitting streak, batting .375 over that time, but was caught stealing for the first time this season and struck out for the 20th time in 13 games.
