Maness ranked third in the Texas League in ERA (3.27) and led the league with a 1.06 WHIP (walks+hits/innings pitched). Despite not arriving in Springfield until May 21, the right-hander still accumulated enough wins to place second in the league (11).
His full-season totals were a 14-4 with a 2.97 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP. Maness' workload of 169 2/3 innings pitched ranked sixth in all of Minor League Baseball. He earned All-Star berths in both leagues – Florida State League at mid-season and Texas League second-half.
Maness scored his first invitation to major league spring camp in 2013. The non-roster invitee remains with St. Louis with less than 10 days remainng in camp. Though he does not have a realistic chance of joining the Cardinals yet, Maness has made a strong showing.
