Walbeck Named E.L. Manager of The Year

Altoona Curve Manager Matt Walbeck has been named the 2010 Eastern League Manager of the Year, the league announced today.

It is the second time in Walbeck's career that he has been named the E.L. Manager of the Year (also in 2007 with Erie) and it is the fourth overall distinction in the skipper's six years as a manager.

"This great honor could not have been achieved without the outstanding work of the Curve coaching and training staff who helped prepare our players on a daily basis to play at a high level," said Walbeck. "It's been a pleasure to help develop an exciting group of players who gave their best effort day in and day out and who continue to move forward into the post season.

"This award is a reflection of the Pirates farm system and the coordinators involved by helping players reach their potential."
