Sean Green Profile
The Texas Rangers released right-handed reliever Sean Green on Sunday.
Green, 33, pitched well early in the season but had struggled mightily––particularly with his command––over the last month. He posted a 5.60 earned-run average while making 19 relief appearances. In 27.1 innings, Green allowed 35 hits while walking 23 and striking out 25.
Although Green's sinker was inducing nearly 2.7 groundouts per airout on the season, left-handed hitters were batting .431 against him, and he'd issued 18 walks in 13.1 innings over his last nine appearances.
Utility infielder Greg Miclat was activated from the disabled list, taking Green's roster spot. The 24-year-old Miclat had been sidelined since May 4. He's batting .195/.244/.293 with one stolen base in 15 contests this year.
