For the second consecutive start, a Rangers prospect beat up on talented Red Sox farmhand Casey Kelly. This time, it was right fielder and five-hole hitter Joey Butler. The University of New Orleans product crushed a 92 mph fastball the opposite way––over the fence in right-center field.
In all, Butler went 1-for-4 with the two-run homer and a base on balls, raising his Fall League average to .240.
Butler was the only Rangers prospect to appear in the game.
Designated hitter and cleanup man Max Ramirez singled once and struck out twice in his four plate appearances on Saturday evening. La Guaira lost to Caracas, 4-0, and Ramirez was the only Ranger to appear for the Tiburones.
Andres James appeared as a late-inning defensive replacement at third base for Licey. The small-statured infielder didn't have a plate appearance and committed a fielding error in his first action of the winter.
No Rangers appeared on Saturday.
The circuit has begun its 2010 campaign, but there will be no Rangers players participating this season.
