Surprise finished off its Arizona Fall League campaign with a tie in a scheduled seven-inning game on Thursday afternoon.
A pair of Rangers farmhands––shortstop Davis Stoneburner (0/4) and left fielder Jared Bolden (0/3)––went hitless in the contest.
Bolden was a late-season addition to the Rafters roster after Engel Beltre left to play in the Dominican Winter League. The 23-year-old collected a pair of hits in his first game but finished at 3-for-21 with a triple, three walks, and seven strikeouts.
Magallanes infielder Andres Blanco split his time between shortstop and third base and went 1-for-4 with his second double of the winterball campaign. Blanco is 5-for-19 (.263) with a pair of two-baggers in his first five contests.
There were a number of games scheduled for Thursday, but they appear to have been rained out. Either way, the games were not played. Another full slate is on tap for Friday morning.
Chris Davis made his winterball debut with the Estrellas de Oriente, batting sixth and playing as the club's designated hitter. The slugger was 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
Versatile utilityman Esteban German played left field for the Toros del Este on Thursday evening. The 32-year-old went 2-for-5 with an RBI and his fourth stolen base in just six games.
German was going up against Engel Beltre's Licey club. Beltre, playing center and batting ninth, had a single and an RBI in four trips.
Mike Ballard (2.05 ERA/.241 BAA) started the first game of Caguas' doubleheader against Mayaguez on Thursday, though he didn't last long. The southpaw worked 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits. He didn't issue a walk and didn't record a strikeout.
The circuit has begun its 2010 campaign, but there will be no Rangers players participating this season.
