Joe Ortiz (1.50 ERA/.231 BAA) appeared in the fifth inning and pitched to two batters––one reached on a fielding error and the other singled, leading to an unearned run. The lefty specialist has logged six innings over 17 appearances.
Magallanes shortstop-third baseman Andres Blanco (.286/.355/.375) batted leadoff and had one knock in four trips.
Caracas shortstop Edwin Garcia (.250/.388/.350) batted ninth and singled once in three at-bats.
The Gigantes and Estrellas had a doubleheader scheduled on Friday evening, and the first game was a five-hour extra-inning marathon. The Estrellas took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first but Cibao gradually clawed back before eventually taking the game in 12 innings.
Estrellas first baseman Chris Davis was 1-for-4 with two walks, three strikeouts, and a pair of runs scored.
The box score for the second contest––if there was one––has yet to be posted by the league.
Leadoff hitter and left fielder Julio Borbon singled once in four trips for Aguilas Cibaenas. He was also caught stealing for the second time this season.
Toros del Este DH Esteban German went 1-for-3 while also laying down a sacrifice bunt and bringing home a run with a sacrifice fly.
Engel Beltre played in center and was also 1-for-3. The 21-year-old belted his second double of the season.
