Winterball Roundup - 12/17

La Guaira's David Paisano went off in his club's playoff opener on Friday, going 2-for-2 with a homer, two walks, and a HBP. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action.

Venezuelan Winter League

Max Ramirez (.320/.417/.420) had a strong showing in La Guaira's doubleheader on Friday, working as the DH in the first game before playing first base in the nightcap. In the two games combined, the 26-year-old went 4-for-7 with a double, two RBI, and two strikeouts.

Through Ramirez still hasn't shown much power of late, he is 14-for-29 with three doubles and four walks over his last eight contests.

Yorvit Torrealba played first base for Margarita and was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run batted in.

Magallanes shortstop Andres Blanco went 0-for-4, and he also had a walk and an RBI.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)

Liga Paralela completed its regular-season slate on Thursday morning. La Guaira leadoff hitter and left fielder Renny Osuna (.280/.314/.512) remained hot by going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in his club's 8-0 victory.

The 25-year-old isn't generally known for his power, but he now has nine doubles, two triples, and two homers in 21 contests. Thirteen of his 23 knocks have gone for extra bases.

Centerfielder David Paisano (.283/.319/.368) went hitless in four trips.

The league began its postseason on Friday morning. Caracas shortstop Edwin Garcia batted ninth and went 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout, as his team beat Magallanes, 5-4.

The red-hot Osuna did not appear in La Guaira's playoff opener, but CF David Paisano reached safely in all five plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks, and a hit-by pitch.

Dominican Winter League

The players of the Dominican Winter League are on strike over a roster rules-related issue, and it's unsure when––or if––the league will resume play this season.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Ponce lefty reliever Zach Phillips recorded two outs in the seventh inning without allowing a run. He worked around a hit and a walk allowed. Tall righty Adalberto Flores finished the frame by getting a groundout from the only hitter he faced.

Mexican Pacific League

No Rangers appeared on Friday.
