Rangers Winterball Roundup – 10/20

Corner infielders Tom Mendonca and Chad Tracy helped lead the United States to a 20-2 victory over the Dominican Republic in Thursday's Pan American Games opener. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 2 – (@) Salt River 7

Cleanup hitter and third baseman Mike Olt was the only Rangers position player to appear for Surprise on Thursday, and he went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. Olt did knock in his 12th run of the young campaign.

Righty reliever Ryan Kelly surrendered one run––a solo homer––in two innings of work. He allowed two hits and walked two, throwing 17 of his 29 pitches for strikes.

Pan American Games

The Americans kicked off their Pan American Games slate with a bang, knocking out a 20-2 victory over the Dominican Republic. Third baseman Tom Mendonca was among the stars, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and six runs batted in. He also laid down a sacrifice bunt and committed two errors in the field.

First baseman Chad Tracy, who was 1-for-3, brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.

Venezuelan Winter League

La Guaira lefty specialist Joe Ortiz retired the only hitter he faced for his fourth hold. Ortiz has yet to surrender a run.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)

No Rangers appeared in the circuit on Thursday.

Dominican Winter League

There were no games on Thursday.

Mexican Pacific League

Jose Felix launched a big three-run homer for his Guasave club in the second inning, helping lead the Algodoneros to a 6-2 victory. The knock was Felix's only hit of the game, but it was a big one.

Puerto Rican Winter League
