Rangers Winterball Roundup – 10/23

Engel Beltre had two singles and two sacrifice bunts for Licey in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise – OFF
12-4

As usual, the Arizona Fall League took Sunday off.

Pan American Games

The Pan American Games were also quiet on Sunday.

Venezuelan Winter League

Joe Ortiz got the job done once again for the Tiburones, retiring the only hitter he faced. The 5-foot-7 southpaw has the following line through six winterball appearances––3.2 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 4 k. The fastball-slider specialist has yet to allow a hit to a fellow left-hander.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)

There were no games on Sunday.

Dominican Winter League

Licey outfielder Engel Beltre may have broken out of his slump to begin the winterball season on Saturday. The toolsy prospect went 2-for-3 with an RBI. He also laid down a pair of sacrifice bunts.

The Licey/Aguilas Cibaenas game was only nine innings, but the clubs combined to use 20––yes, that's correct––pitchers.

Centerfielder Julio Borbon is proving the ankle may not be an issue going forward. He had a single and a walk in four trips while also tacking on two stolen bases in as many tries.

Borbon was replaced late in the game by former Rangers farmhand Freddy Guzman.

Mexican Pacific League

No Rangers appeared in Sunday's games. Cody Eppley didn't pitch for Obregon and Jose Felix got the night off with Guasave.

Puerto Rican Winter League

Begins November 4.
