The U.S. earned a berth in Tuesday's gold medal game with a 12-10 victory against Cuba. The Cubans are knocked to the bronze medal game, which is noteworthy because they've won gold at 10 consecutive Pan American tournaments. The U.S. last took home the crown in 1967––right before Cuba's incredible streak began.
On Monday, the Americans jumped out to an early lead and held on late. Third baseman Tom Mendonca, batting eighth, was 1-for-3 with a run batted in. He was also walked intentionally and hit by a pitch.
The U.S. will face Canada for the gold on Tuesday. Canada has already locked up its best-ever international finish.
The Venezuelan big league wasn't active on Monday.
Though Liga Paralela played games on Monday, no Rangers appeared in the action. There likely won't be many Rangers in the league, as the club is currently having instructional league at its Dominican Republic complex.
The Dominican Winter League was dark on Monday.
There were no games on Monday.
