Rangers Winterball Roundup – 11/10

Right-hander Cody Eppley fanned all three batters he faced in finishing off a victory on Thursday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Arizona Fall League: Surprise 1 – (@) Scottsdale 2
21-9


Right-hander Ryan Kelly (4.97 ERA/.200 BAA) got the start for Surprise and turned in his best outing of the Fall League campaign. The 24-year-old hurled three innings of no-hit, scoreless ball on only 36 pitches. He also struck out five while walking just one.

Kelly has the following line in nine appearances (one start) for the Saguaros––12.2 ip, 9 h, 7 r, 7 bb, 10 k.

Third baseman Mike Olt, who singled once in four at-bats, drove home his club's only run of the game. Ryan Strausborger (1/2) singled once and laid down a sacrifice bunt while Leury Garcia (0/3) was hitless in three trips.



Venezuelan Winter League


La Guaira lefty Joe Ortiz workd two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run, lowering his ERA to 5.40. He allowed one double.



Dominican Winter League


There was only one game in the Dominican Winter League on Thursday, and no Rangers appeared in the contest.



Mexican Pacific League


Obregon closer Cody Eppley fanned all three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning, finishing off a 6-2 victory. Eppley threw nine of his 12 pitches for strikes.

Jose Felix entered as a pinch-hitter for Guasave in the fourth inning and was hitless in three at-bats.



Puerto Rican Winter League


There were no games on Thursday.



Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)


Joey Butler went 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout, as he batted cleanup and played right field for the Magallanes club. Butler is expected to join the ‘big' team after a few games of preparation in Liga Paralela.
