Rangers Winterball Roundup – 11/30

The Texas Rangers continued to fill up the Dominican Winter League on Wednesday, with four more players appearing in games. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the system.

Venezuelan Winter League

Caracas DH Yorvit Torrealba played in his second winterball game of the year and went 0-for-4, striking out twice.

Guilder Rodriguez came in as a pinch runner in the eighth inning and scored a key run in Lara's 10-9 come-from-behind victory over La Guaira. He also stole second base, his fifth of the year.

La Guaira lefty Joe Ortiz struck out the only batter he faced to close out the top of the ninth inning.

Joey Butler, who played right field and batted sixth, singled once and struck out twice in four at-bats.

Dominican Winter League

Playing his second game in the Dominican Winter League, Escogido leadoff hitter and centerfielder Craig Gentry singled once in six at-bats.

Gentry, who figures to compete with Julio Borbon with playing time for the Rangers next season, is also playing in the same outfield as Borbon for the Leones del Escogido this winter. Borbon has not played the last two nights, though, after beginning his winterball campaign in a 7-for-54 (.130) slump.

Leones reliever Carlos Pimentel (1.62 ERA/.083 BAA) added 1.2 innings of scoreless and hitless relief, walking two and striking out four. The 21-year-old has yielded just four hits and fanned 23 in 16.2 innings.

Gigantes del Cibao infielder Leury Garcia entered as a pinch hitter for second baseman Jimmy Paredes (Astros) in the fifth inning of a lopsided game. Garcia went 0-for-2 with a walk.

Engel Beltre went 0-for-2 for Licey, dropping his average to .255. After a recent hot spell, Beltre is 0-for-7 over his last four contests, often being subbed for in the middle innings.

Mexican Pacific League

No Rangers appeared on Wednesday.

Puerto Rican Winter League

No Rangers appeared on Wednesday.

Liga Paralela (Venezuela Minor League)
