Rangers Winterball Roundup – 12/1

Wilfredo Boscan dealt yet another gem in the Venezuelan Winter League on Thursday, as he added five more scoreless innings and lowered his earned-run average to 1.71. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Venezuelan Winter League

Some Venezuelan media are reporting that Thursday's start might have been the last of the winterball campaign for Wilfredo Boscan, who is now up to 42 innings with Zuila after 141 during the regular season.

If Boscan is done, he finished his year on an excellent note. The 6-foot-2 righty added five more scoreless innings––dropping his ERA to 1.71––while working around three hits and four walks. He struck out two.

Boscan has the following stat line in Venezuela––42 ip, 34 h, 8 er, 11 bb, 21 k. It's an encouraging sign against strong competition after he posted a 5.04 ERA between High-A Myrtle Beach and Double-A Frisco during the regular season.

Caracas catcher Yorvit Torrealba singled once in four trips during his club's 3-2 victory over Anzoategui.

Magallanes right fielder Joey Butler was 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. He also committed a fielding error. Through his first 14 games, Butler is 13-for-49 (.265) with three doubles, a triple, and a home run. He has drawn eight walks and fanned 12 times.
