Rangers Winterball Roundup – 1/5

Julio Borbon and the Leones del Escogido picked up yet another playoff victory in the Dominican Republic on Thursday night. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Venezuelan Winter League


Facing former Rangers hurler Armando Galarraga on Thursday, the Tigres de Aragua scored only one run on four hits while suffering the loss. Second baseman Yangervis Solarte singled once in four trips while shortstop Luis Hernandez was 0-for-3, striking out once.



Dominican Winter League


Escogido's Julio Borbon went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles––one infield and one to left field––in his club's come-from-behind 3-2 victory. The Leones scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the walkoff win, pushing them to 6-1 in the Dominican Winter League's round robin postseason.



Mexican Pacific League


Jose Felix got the start for the Algodoneros de Guasave, batting ninth, and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a walk. He also gunned down Obregon's only attempted base stealer.

Guasave, which won the game 5-4 in 10 innings, avoided being swept in the best of seven series. They now trail three games to one.



Puerto Rican Winter League


There were no games on Thursday.
