The Leones del Escogido clinched a spot in the Dominican Winter League's championship series––a chance to play for a spot in the Serie del Caribe–-with a 10-6 victory over Cibao on Saturday evening.
Escogido leadoff hitter Julio Borbon played a hand in the win, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and his first stolen base of the postseason. He is now batting .239 in the playoffs.

The Ponce club was eliminated from the postseason on Thursday, meaning Mayaguez will face Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League final best-of-nine series. Only two Rangers appeared in Puerto Rico this winter––both for Ponce.
Catcher Kevin Torres, 21, played in seven games for the Leones, going 2-for-7 with a walk and two strikeouts. Sidearming left-hander Alexander Claudio made three appearances––including one start––for Ponce and worked 5.2 scoreless innings, yielding five hits, walking four, and striking out four.
