Video: Cody Buckel Intrasquad (3/30)

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Right-hander Cody Buckel wrapped up his spring training with a minor league intrasquad start on Friday afternoon, facing some of the organization's top hitting prospects. Lone Star Dugout has extensive video of the outing.

Recently assigned to open the 2012 season at High-A Myrtle Beach, right-hander Cody Buckel made his final start of spring training in an intrasquad game on March 30. The following video is from that intrasquad game, where he faces Rangers prospects like Rougned Odor, Jorge Alfaro, Chris Grayson, Drew Robinson, and Kellin Deglan.

The 19-year-old is coming off an excellent season at Single-A Hickory in which he posted a 2.61 ERA, striking out 120 and walking just 27 in 96.2 innings.

In his outings this spring, Buckel has featured a 90-93 mph fastball to go along with a cut-slider, a curveball, and a changeup. His second-to-last spring training outing––in which he threw just 44 pitches in four innings during an intrasquad game opposite Yu Darvish––was detailed in this feature story, along with an interview.
