Round
1
Texas Rangers
Player: Lewis Brinson
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 170
Hometown: Tamarac, FL
Position: OF
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 5/8/94
ANALYSIS: BaseballFactoryTV Video: Brinson works out at 2011 Under Armour All-America event – Listed at 6-foot-3, 170 pounds, Brinson is an extremely high-ceiling talent who also comes with some risk. His baseball skills are quite raw, but the tools are loud. An all-around excellent athlete, Brinson is a good runner with a strong arm and could become a premium defender in center field. His bat speed, in addition to the projectable body, gives him some power potential. While the 18-year-old is a bit of a project, he has one of the highest ceilings in this year's MLB Draft. Brinson has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Florida.

INTERVIEW: Brinson officially signs with UF (11/15/2011)

SLOT VALUE: $1,625,000

BONUS: $1,625,000 (per Baseball America)

Texas Rangers
Player: Joey Gallo
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 205
Hometown: Henderson, NV
Position: 3B
Bats: Left
Throws: Right
DOB: 11/19/93
ANALYSIS: Although Scout.com National Baseball Expert, and former Rangers scout, Frankie Piliere recently ranked Gallo as the 11th-best prospect available in this year's MLB Draft, the slugging third baseman fell to the 39th overall pick, where he was selected by Texas. The 18-year-old's best tool is his staggering raw power, which draws 70-plus grade ratings from many scouts. While there are questions regarding his hit tool, one scout commented on Gallo, saying, "That kind of raw juice is special these days." The corner infield prospect also features an excellent arm, as he touched the upper-90s while pitching in high school. Some scouts believe Gallo could move to the mound if hitting ultimately doesn't work out for him. Gallo prefers to hit, though, and he'll get plenty of opportunity to do so given his raw power. He is committed to Louisiana State University.

Frankie Piliere on Gallo: "Typically, teams don't expect to land the best power hitter in the draft outside of the first round. But, the Rangers added just that when they landed Gallo. The lefty-swinging Gallo has shown light-tower power that has translated well to the wooden bat."

Texas Rangers
Player: Collin Wiles
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 187
Hometown: Overland Park, KS
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 5/30/94
ANALYSIS: MLB.com Scouting Video – Among draft day one's more surprising picks, Wiles is a projectable high school arm who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 187 pounds. His fastball currently sits in the upper-80s––reaching 90-91 on occasion––and has room for velocity growth as his tall frame matures. Both his breaking ball and changeup are considered advanced secondary offerings, and he has a clean delivery while showing a strong feel for pitching. Although Wiles has signed a letter of intent with Vanderbilt University, he is considered very signable. With some projection, a potential deep repertoire, and a mature pitchability, the 18-year-old is an intriguing prospect. His selection––he'll likely sign for a slot-level bonus or lower––may be connected to Gallo, who may need an above-slot bonus at 39th overall to be steered away from his LSU commitment.

INTERVIEW: Collin Wiles (6/6)

SLOT VALUE: $954,800

BONUS: $975,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/12)

Round
2
Texas Rangers
Player: Jamie Jarmon
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 193
Hometown: Millsboro, DE
Position: OF
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 6/21/94
ANALYSIS: As a raw-but-gifted outfielder with a high ceiling, Jarmon fits the mold of many of the Rangers' early-round draft picks this year. The Delaware native has never focused on baseball full-time, playing three sports––baseball, football, basketball––at Indian River High School. He was even named Delaware Football Player of the Year in December, according to the Delmarva Daily Times. Listed at 6-foot-1, 193 pounds, Jarmon doesn't turn 18 until late June. He has some strength in his frame, producing intriguing raw power and a strong arm. Perfect Game USA clocked him up to 93 mph from the mound in July 2011. Jarmon has signed a letter of intent with the University of South Carolina, but he is expected to sign with the Rangers.

SLOT VALUE: $601,500

Round
2
Texas Rangers
Player: Nick Williams
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 195
Hometown: La Marque, TX
Position: OF
Bats: Left
Throws: Left
DOB: 9/8/93
ANALYSIS: The 6-foot-3, 195-pound outfielder entered the 2011 high school campaign as a projected first-round pick, but he dropped after having an overall disappointing season at Galveston Ball High School. While Williams looked extremely raw––hitting just .300 this year––at Ball, he still displays fantastic bat speed and is a good runner. Perfect Game clocked Williams' arm up to 90 mph from the outfield in June 2011, but some scouts believe he'll need to improve his throwing mechanics in order to get the above-average arm strength to play in games. The lefty hitter and thrower initially committed to the University of Texas but ultimately signed a letter of intent with Texas A&M. Regardless, he's expected to sign with the Rangers as a second-round pick and a bit of a project with lots of pure potential.

Round
3
Texas Rangers
Player: Pat Cantwell
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 205
Hometown: West Islip, NY
Position: C
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 4/10/90
ANALYSIS: Video: Cantwell in 2011 Cape Cod League (h/t Bullpen Banter) – Although he's certain to sign as a college senior, Cantwell will have to wait at least a week, as his Stony Brook Seawolves have made an improbable run to the NCAA Super Regionals. Cantwell will be playing at least two games on national television (the ESPN family of networks) this weekend versus LSU. Regarded as a defensive-minded backstop with a good arm, Cantwell has shut down his opponents' running game this season, gunning down 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) attempted base stealers entering postseason play. The Long Island native is a four-year starter behind the dish at Stony Brook. He posted a career best .361/.439/.498 slash line as a sophomore in 2010, but his numbers have dropped with the new––and less-potent––bats. Through 60 games, Cantwell is currently batting .312/.413/.420 with 11 doubles, four triples, and one home run. He has drawn 15 walks (but been plunked 25 times) and struck out just 10 times. He's also stolen 10 bases in 13 attempts. Cantwell was selected by the Orioles in the 39th round of last year's draft, but he didn't sign.

SLOT VALUE: $381,700

STATUS: Unsigned.

Round
4
Texas Rangers
Player: Alec Asher
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 220
Hometown: Lakeland, FL
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 10/4/91
ANALYSIS: The Rangers inked 18 players the day after the draft, and Asher––as the fourth-round selection––was the highest pick of the group. The Lakeland, Fla., native is another high-ceiling prospect who comes with a bit of risk. He had Tommy John surgery at 14 years of age, and, according to Baseball America, had an $80,000 contract with the Giants (as a 23rd-round pick) voided in 2010 due to a bone chip in his elbow. While the 20-year-old righty's secondary stuff is raw, he stands 6-foot-4, possesses an elite fastball that flirts with the upper-90s, and throws strikes. During his sophomore campaign at Polk State College in Florida, Asher posted a 1.38 ERA in 22 starts. Over 111 innings, he allowed 75 hits, walked 27, and struck out 118. He had signed a letter of intent with Division II power University of Tampa.

SLOT VALUE: $277,600

Round
5
Texas Rangers
Player: Preston Beck
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Position: OF
Bats: Left
Throws: Right
DOB: 10/26/90
ANALYSIS: MLB.com Scouting Video – A local product, Beck grew up in Dallas and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. He turned some heads as a freshman in 2010 by batting .352––second on the Mavericks to former first-round pick Michael Choice. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect is a pretty good athlete who profiles in right field due to his plus-plus arm strength. He also has some raw power out of a left-handed swing. Beck stood out during an abbreviated 14-game stint in the Cape Cod League last summer, going 15-for-50 (.300) with two doubles, two home runs, seven walks, and 11 strikeouts. While he showed a compact stroke with the wood bat during the summer, his swing tended to get a bit longer this season at UTA. Still, the results were excellent, as he hit .335/.447/.602 with a team-leading 14 home runs and 71 RBI in 60 games. He drew 40 walks and struck out 33 times. As a junior, Beck had the option of returning for his senior season, but he has already signed with the Rangers.

INTERVIEW: Preston Beck (6/14)

SLOT VALUE: $207,900

Round
6
Texas Rangers
Player: Royce Bolinger
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 200
Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ
Position: OF
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 8/12/90
ANALYSIS: Video: Bolinger hits in the cage (h/t royyy21) – Another corner outfielder with plus-plus arm strength, Bolinger was selected by Tampa Bay in the 45th round of the 2008 MLB Draft out of high school in Arizona, but he wasn't taken after his junior campaign at Gonzaga last year. A righty swinger with an aggressive approach, Bolinger improved with each of his four seasons in college. He batted .283 with 11 doubles and three home runs as a junior. That improved to a .392/.441/.620 slash line this year, hitting 15 doubles and 11 round-trippers. He had 18 walks and 23 strikeouts over 56 contests. He has already signed with the Rangers as a college senior and will return to Spokane to play with the Indians.

INTERVIEW: Royce Bolinger (6/19)

SLOT VALUE: $155,900

BONUS: $50,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
7
Texas Rangers
Player: Cam Schiller
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 195
Hometown: Prescott, AZ
Position: 2B
Bats: Both
Throws: Right
DOB: 11/30/89
ANALYSIS: Schiller played shortstop at Oral Roberts as a junior before moving to second base for the Golden Eagles this season, where he committed only eight errors in 63 games for a .974 fielding percentage. Drafted by the Rangers as a second baseman, the Arizona native is a switch-hitter who played his first two collegiate campaigns at Yavapai College before moving on to ORU. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound college senior shows a little pop, hitting .342/.416/.518 as a junior and .306/.359/.455 with 14 doubles and eight home runs this year. Schiller, 22, has signed with the Rangers and will likely play in the middle infield with the Spokane Indians this summer.

Round
8
Texas Rangers
Player: Cody Kendall
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210
Hometown: Clovis, CA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 12/12/89
ANALYSIS: The 22-year-old Kendall recently finished up a four-year career at Fresno State University. A native of Clovis, Calif., Kendall posted a 5.87 ERA in 83 career appearances (13 starts) for the Bulldogs. As a senior this year, he pitched in 21 games (five starts) and had a 4.99 ERA. Over 61.1 innings, he yielded 75 hits while walking 13 and striking out 39. Kendall came on to the draft scene late in the season when he took over a starting role for the WAC Tournament and NCAA Regional. He logged 23 innings over his final three appearances and induced 37 groundouts and 13 flyouts with his sinking fastball, which began sitting in the low-90s and touching higher in bursts.

SLOT VALUE: $132,000

BONUS: $5,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
9
Texas Rangers
Player: John Niggli
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 185
Hometown: Tulare, CA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 5/2/90
ANALYSIS: A strike-throwing 6-foot-4 righty, Niggli played two seasons of JUCO ball in California before moving on to Liberty University in Virginia. Following a solid season in the Flames' weekend rotation as a junior, Niggli became the club's ace this past season and posted a 9-4 record with a 2.17 ERA in 16 games (15 starts). He logged 103.2 innings and yielded 103 hits while walking 30 and striking out 68. His fastball generally sits in the upper-80s and touches the low-90s, but this story from the Visalia Times-Delta says he topped out at 94 mph this spring. The California native will begin his professional career in the rookie-level Surprise Rangers' starting rotation.

SLOT VALUE: $125,000

BONUS: $10,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
10
Texas Rangers
Player: Casey Shiver
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 175
Hometown: Loganville, GA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 10/21/90
ANALYSIS: Shiver played his college ball in the same NAIA conference that produced 2011 Rangers draft picks Chris Grayson and Jeremy Williams. The 21-year-old righty batted .291 in 55 at-bats, but he's certainly best known for his arm. As a junior this season, Shiver consistently pitched deep into games and went 9-4 with a team-best 90 strikeouts in 102.1 innings. He, like Niggli, will open his professional career with the rookie Surprise Rangers.

SLOT VALUE: $125,000

BONUS: $15,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
11
Texas Rangers
Player: Eric Brooks
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 195
Hometown: Taylor, TX
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 8/29/90
ANALYSIS: The Taylor, Texas, native began his collegiate career at the University of Houston before moving on to McLennan Community College in Waco. After pitching in the Cougars' weekend rotation as a freshman, Brooks sat out his second year after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Brooks recovered well, and his velocity actually improved. He began sitting between 90-93 mph and reaching the mid-90s in bursts last fall and this spring. He led the Highlanders this spring with a 1.49 ERA in 13 games. Over 78.2 innings, he yielded 60 hits, struck out 92, and walked only 12. Regarded as an excellent athlete, Brooks will pitch in the short-season Spokane Indians' starting rotation this summer.

INTERVIEW: Eric Brooks (6/8)

BONUS: $100,000 (per Baseball America)

STATUS: Signed (6/11)

Round
12
Texas Rangers
Player: Keone Kela
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 190
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 4/16/93
ANALYSIS: Kela, who turned 19 in mid-April, signed with the Rangers after his freshman campaign at Everett Community College in the Seattle area. The right-hander was drafted by the Mariners out of high school––in the 29th round of last year's MLB Draft. But he turned down the offer and instead elected to attend junior college. Working mostly as a reliever this spring, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound hurler began flashing a consistent low-90s fastball that bumped the mid-90s. His raw breaking ball is a work in progress, though the Rangers believe he has the ability to spin a good one. He posted a 2.08 ERA while surrendering just 23 hits and striking out 48 in 39 innings, though he also walked 25. Kela profiles as a hard-throwing reliever in pro ball, and he'll begin his career in Arizona.

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
13
Texas Rangers
Player: Sam Stafford
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 200
Hometown: Spring, TX
Position: LHP
Bats: Left
Throws: Left
DOB: 4/27/90
ANALYSIS: Video: Sam Stafford injury (h/t KXAN) – As the Yankees' second-round pick in last year's MLB Draft, Stafford had initially agreed to sign for a slightly above-slot $400,000 bonus but ultimately didn't sign after a team physical revealed shoulder issues. Stafford was initially cleared to pitch his senior season at the University of Texas, but he underwent labrum surgery on his left shoulder in early February. Stafford also had surgery after being diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome at the same time. The hard-throwing lefty has joined the Rangers' rehab crew in Arizona with an eye on making a return for the 2013 campaign. When healthy, he featured a fastball up to 96 mph in short bursts with a promising curveball in the California Collegiate League. His fastball sat more between 89-92 mph as a starting pitcher at Texas, reaching up to 93-94. He also mixes in the curve with an occasional cutter and changeup. Stafford posted career-best numbers with the Longhorns the year prior to his surgery, logging a 1.77 ERA in 19 appearances (17 starts). In 81.1 innings, he yielded 51 hits, walked 42, and struck out 91.

INTERVIEW: Sam Stafford (6/10)

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
14
Texas Rangers
Player: Kwinton Smith
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 175
Hometown: Dillon, SC
Position: OF
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 7/1/94
ANALYSIS: Video: Kwinton Smith Senior Football Highlights (h/t Ultimate Prospects) – Perhaps best known for his exploits on the football field, Smith has signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of South Carolina and is already enrolled for the summer semester. He has also expressed his interest in playing baseball for the Gamecocks. However, there is a chance the Rangers sign him to an above-slot deal that will let him play both professional baseball and football for Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks. Scout.com's football recruiting experts have the South Carolina prep standout rated as a four-star prospect and the #21 wide receiver in his class. He received football scholarship offers to many of the nation's top programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech. According to this story from WMBF in Myrtle Beach, Smith grew up loving baseball and said "Football was a last option for me."

STATUS: Unsigned.

Round
15
Texas Rangers
Player: Jameis Winston
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 190
Hometown: Hueytown, AL
Position: OF
Bats: Both
Throws: Right
DOB: 1/6/94
ANALYSIS: Video: Winston at the Perfect Game Showcase in San Diego (h/t Fidog91) – Another player presumably headed to college to play football, Winston checks in at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds and is one of the top high school athletes in the nation. The prep quarterback has signed a letter of intent to play football at Florida State University. Scout.com's recruiting experts rate him as a five-star prospect and the number two quarterback recruit in the nation. Many of Winston's high school football highlight videos can be found at this link on his Scout.com player profile. Frankie Piliere, who scouted Winston's game on the baseball field last summer, has a scouting report, which is linked below.

SCOUTING REPORT: Winston at Perfect Game National Showcase
POST-DRAFT STORY: Winston chosen by Texas in Round 15

STATUS: Unsigned.

Round
16
Texas Rangers
Player: Janluis Castro
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 150
Hometown: Trujillo Alto, PR
Position: 2B
Bats: Both
Throws: Right
DOB: 1/4/94
ANALYSIS: The 5-foot-9 infielder was drafted as a second baseman but has the ability to play all over the infield in addition to behind the plate. Castro had signed a letter of intent to play his college baseball at Alabama State University but has already inked with the Rangers and will begin his career in the rookie-level Arizona League. The switch-hitting Castro was ranked by Perfect Game as the #18 draft prospect in Puerto Rico this year. A Perfect Game scouting report also says that he "plays above his raw tools in all areas."

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
17
Texas Rangers
Player: Charles Moorman
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 200
Hometown: Lakeside, CA
Position: C
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 1/9/94
ANALYSIS: A high school catcher from Lakeside, Calif., Moorman signed the day after the draft concluded despite having signed to play baseball at Texas Tech University. According to MLB.com, Moorman posted a .369/.489/.660 slash line as a senior at El Capitan High School this spring. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound backstop is best known for his defensive work, leading one scout to call him "one of the best high school receivers I've seen," in addition to saying he has "great hands" and a "plus arm." Moorman will play behind the plate for the Rangers' rookie club this summer.

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
18
Texas Rangers
Player: Ryan Harvey
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 220
Hometown: Manalapan, NJ
Position: RHP
Bats: Left
Throws: Right
DOB: 1/31/91
ANALYSIS: Video: Ryan Harvey interview from SHUPirates.com – The New Jersey native has already signed with the Rangers following his junior campaign at Seton Hall University and is currently pitching out of the short-season Spokane bullpen. Harvey helped lead the Pirates to a Big East Tournament championship as a sophomore in 2011 while working out of the bullpen. In 26 relief appearances, he posted a 2.62 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 44.2 innings. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound righty moved into the starting rotation this spring and led Seton Hall starters with a 3.04 ERA. Over 77 innings, he surrendered 65 hits while walking 43 and fanning 90. Harvey has an upper-80s fastball (touching the low-90s) and uses a solid slider as his strikeout pitch.

STATUS: Signed (6/11)

Round
19
Texas Rangers
Player: Tyler Smith
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 205
Hometown: Sumter, SC
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 2/3/92
ANALYSIS: Though Smith didn't pitch much in high school, he's found success on the mound in two seasons at South Carolina-Sumter of the JUCO ranks. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-hander saw his velocity gradually increase over the last two seasons, bumping up to the mid-90s this year. He was named Region X JUCO Pitcher of the Year following his sophomore campaign in 2012, putting up a 1.13 ERA in 13 games. He logged 79.2 innings and yielded 53 hits while walking 35 and striking out 102. Smith, who has signed with the University of Tennessee for next season, reportedly turned down an offer from the Rangers in the 10th round before eventually being selected by Texas in the 19th. While it'd seem unlikely that Smith would sign, Vols baseball coach Dave Serrano told WNML in Knoxville on June 18 that "I think Tyler's the one we're still worried about right now," about Smith's odds of signing with the Rangers or attending Tennessee.

STATUS: Signed (6/24)

Round
20
Texas Rangers
Player: Josh McElwee
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 220
Hometown: Andrews, SC
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 6/12/89
ANALYSIS: The 6-foot-4, 220-pound hurler racked up 318 strikeouts in 263.1 innings during his five-year career at Division II Newberry College. McElwee, who turned 23 on June 12, underwent Tommy John surgery earlier in his career and was a redshirt senior this year. Known as a competitor with a heavy 89-93 mph fastball (and a slider-curveball mix), McElwee led the Wolves with 13 starts this spring. He had a 3.99 ERA with 97 strikeouts (and 35 walks) over 79 innings. The South Carolina native is currently pitching out of the Spokane bullpen.

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
21
Texas Rangers
Player: Jake Lemoine
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 195
Hometown: Orange, TX
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 11/28/93
ANALYSIS: With a projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame, Lemoine already has a fastball that touches 90 mph and should reach higher after he matures physically. According to the Beaumont Enterprise, Lemoine turned down a chance to sign with the Rangers for a $277,000 bonus as a fourth-round pick. The Rangers later took him in the 21st round, but the story says he'll be passing on pro ball (for now) and heading to the University of Houston.

STATUS: Unsigned.

Round
22
Texas Rangers
Player: Travis Dean
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 220
Hometown: Boston, MA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 5/3/91
ANALYSIS: Dean, a native of Massachusetts, was drafted by the Yankees out of high school––in the 14th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He elected to attend Kennesaw State University instead and was taken in the 22nd round this year as a draft-eligible sophomore. With another year of draft leverage remaining, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound righty isn't likely to sign this time around. Dean logged only 23.2 innings as a freshman and made just six appearances (five starts) this spring. He had a 5.60 ERA in 27.1 innings, surrendering 28 hits, walking 10, and punching out 13.

STATUS: Unsigned.

Round
23
Texas Rangers
Player: Coby Cowgill
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 200
Hometown: Norfolk, VA
Position: RHP
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
DOB: 3/23/91
ANALYSIS: Cowgill, 21, has already signed with the Rangers and begun his professional career in the Spokane Indians' bullpen. The Norfolk native recently completed his junior season at VMI, where he worked as the Friday starter and led the club with a 3.73 ERA. Cowgill gave up 61 hits in 72.1 innings while striking out 59 and walking 31. His most notable performance came on opening day of this season at two-time defending national champion South Carolina, facing ace Michael Roth. Although VMI lost the game 2-1, Cowgill went toe-to-toe with Roth, as he worked seven innings and permitted just an unearned run.

STATUS: Signed (6/7)

Round
24
Texas Rangers
Player: Chase Mullins
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 230
Hometown: Paris, KY
Position: LHP
Bats: Left
Throws: Left
DOB: 7/19/94
ANALYSIS: Mullins says he currently stands 6-foot-8 and weighs approximately 265 pounds, making him one of the more intriguing projection arms in this year's MLB Draft. The extremely tall left-hander currently works in the upper-80s but has reached up to 95 mph. He confirmed to Lone Star Dugout––in the interview linked below––that he'll be passing on the Rangers' offer and attending the University of Kentucky next fall.

INTERVIEW: Chase Mullins (6/7)

Texas Rangers
Player: Gabriel Roa
Height: 5'10"

DOB: 3/26/92
ANALYSIS: Although the Puerto Rico native had signed a letter of intent to play his junior season at NAIA Lee University in Tennessee––the same school that produced Rangers outfield prospect Chris Grayson––he signed with the Rangers as a 25th-round selection. The shortstop is coming off an outstanding sophomore campaign at Wabash Valley College in Illinois, batting .378 with four home runs, 48 runs batted in, and 20 stolen bases. Via the Evansville Courier & Press, Wabash Valley coach Rob Fournier calls Roa "a great defensive player."

DOB: 2/1/92
ANALYSIS: Video: Thrailkill throws a bullpen session (h/t stpetefran99) – While the Florida native is quite raw, his 6-foot-4 body and loose left-handed arm intrigues scouts. Thrailkill began his collegiate career at Quincy University in Illinois before transferring to St. Petersburg College in the JUCO ranks for his sophomore season. Working out of the bullpen this year, he posted a 6.61 ERA in 21 appearances. He struck out 35 but also walked 42 in 32.2 innings. According to this story, Thrailkill had the option of walking on at the University of South Florida or accepting a scholarship at the University of Central Florida, but he has instead signed with the Rangers. He'll begin his pro career with the rookie club.

ANALYSIS: Video: Bores interview at the College World Series (h/t MACSportsVideo) – Bores didn't sign after being taken by the Rangers in the 26th round as a draft-eligible sophomore last year. Texas selected him again in 2012, this time going in the 27th. Working as Kent State's number two starting pitcher, Bores has helped lead the Golden Flashes to their first-ever College World Series berth. He's a four-pitch righty who relies mostly on his sinker-slider combo, working between 88-92 mph with his fastball. In 18 starts this season, Bores currently has a 10-3 record with a 3.33 ERA. He's issued just 18 walks in 110.2 innings, giving up 116 hits and striking out 68. The Ohio native helped lead his club to their first-ever CWS victory, defeating the top-ranked Florida Gators behind his six-inning, two-run performance. When the Flashes' season is over, Bores will have the option of signing with the Rangers or returning to school for his senior campaign.

Hometown: Tamarac, FL

While there are questions regarding his hit tool, one scout commented on Gallo, saying, \"That kind of raw juice is special these days.\" The corner infield prospect also features an excellent arm, as he touched the upper-90s while pitching in high school. Some scouts believe Gallo could move to the mound if hitting ultimately doesn't work out for him. Gallo prefers to hit, though, and he'll get plenty of opportunity to do so given his raw power. He is committed to Louisiana State University.

\r\n\r\nFrankie Piliere on Gallo: \"Typically, teams don't expect to land the best power hitter in the draft outside of the first round. But, the Rangers added just that when they landed Gallo. The lefty-swinging Gallo has shown light-tower power that has translated well to the wooden bat.\"

The 21-year-old righty batted .291 in 55 at-bats, but he's certainly best known for his arm.

According to this story from WMBF in Myrtle Beach, Smith grew up loving baseball and said \"Football was a last option for me.\"

Castro had signed a letter of intent to play his college baseball at Alabama State University but has already inked with the Rangers and will begin his career in the rookie-level Arizona League. According to MLB.com, Moorman posted a .369/.489/.660 slash line as a senior at El Capitan High School this spring. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound backstop is best known for his defensive work, leading one scout to call him \"one of the best high school receivers I've seen,\" in addition to saying he has \"great hands\" and a \"plus arm.\" Moorman will play behind the plate for the Rangers' rookie club this summer.

Hometown: Sumter, SC
Position: RHP

While it'd seem unlikely that Smith would sign, Vols baseball coach Dave Serrano told WNML in Knoxville on June 18 that \"I think Tyler's the one we're still worried about right now,\" about Smith's odds of signing with the Rangers or attending Tennessee.

The extremely tall left-hander currently works in the upper-80s but has reached up to 95 mph. He confirmed to Lone Star Dugout––in the interview linked below––that he'll be passing on the Rangers' offer and attending the University of Kentucky next fall.

The shortstop is coming off an outstanding sophomore campaign at Wabash Valley College in Illinois, batting .378 with four home runs, 48 runs batted in, and 20 stolen bases.
