With the rain postponing their scheduled Sunday afternoon game the Lookouts arrived early Monday to play a double header consisting of two seven inning games, but went over the regular scheduled innings against the Generals in the first game.
"The reason why it went so long was because of our situational hitting," Manager Jody Reed said.
During five different innings the Lookouts left a man in scoring position on either second or third.
"We missed some opportunities to score runs," Reed said. "We had bases loaded with no outs. We were unable to push any across. Weren't able to get a bunt down with runners on first and second no outs. You have to be able to score runs there. If we score runs in that situation it's seven innings."
Chattanooga jumped on the scoreboard quick in the first inning when Joc Pederson singled with a sharp ground ball to right field. Pederson advanced on a second after Omar Luna grounded out to first base. Pederson would finally come home when Blake Smith hit a line drive to right field.
The Lookouts received their second run when Yasiel Puig smacked the ball over the right centerfield wall to lead off the fifth inning.
With the score tied at 2-2 the Generals, and the Lookouts continued on into extra innings.
It took until the bottom on the 11th for Chattanooga's Puig to hit a line drive to right field that brought in Pederson to win the game with a walk off RBI single for the Lookouts.
This win gives the Lookouts a tied 2-2 series against the Generals going into the last game. The Lookouts will be looking to carry the momentum with them to go into the second game of the night.
