McGinnis Planning Visits

2015 three-star New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton Charter outside linebacker Arthur McGinnis wants to visit UCLA at some point this summer...

Texas A&M, Tennessee, UCLA and Georgia are showing the most interest in Arthur McGinnis.

Texas A&M: "I've been there to Texas A&M a lot. Every time, I feel like it's the first time I've visited. I never get tired of A&M."

TENNESSEE: "I haven't visited Tennessee but my teammate, Tyron Johnson, has been there. He was telling me that everything is really nice there. I plan to make a visit."

UCLA: "I plan to go up there this summer. They have a really good program. Their season was great last year. I can't wait to go out there and visit." (from a recent interview)

GEORGIA: "They always have a fire defense. They build linebackers over there at Georgia."

McGinnis says his most recent offer came from the Ivy League (Princeton).

"Right now I'm planning my visits for the spring and summer," he said. "Nothing is written in stone. We have spring training in three weeks; we'll be bringing in a new quarterback with (three-star Texas A&M commit) Deshawn Capers-Smith playing more corner.

"We have to be more disciplined and play all the way through for four quarters. Even if we get a lead of 68-2, we can't let up on opponents."

McGinnis wants people to know about his side project.

"I founded a charity callled '50NATiON,'" he said. "It's a movement I started so we can all give back to the community."

Warren Easton is expected to have more college prospects than any other in-state school in 2014. The Eagles have the state's top-ranked wide receiver in Johnson, as well as Capers-Smith and three-star wide receiver Darrell Clark.

RB Devin Glenn is committed to Tulane, while WR Dedrick Shy and CB Jeremie Francis each have offers.

Easton began the 2013 season with eight straight wins. The Eagles dropped their final two regular season games before reeling off two playoff victories.

The season came to an end in the quarterfinals versus eventual state champ East Jefferson.

McGinnis is coming off an excellent showing at the New Orleans Nike SPARQ Combine earlier this month. He scored in the top 10 out of more than 1,200 participants.
