The Good

Brandon McCarthy started the game and worked two scoreless innings for the Rangers allowing just one hit, walking a batter while striking out four. He continually hit between 91-93 mph on his fastball and had a pristine 78 mph changeup.

Following Brandon McCarthy,Bruce Chen, Scott Feldman, Franklyn German, and Mike Wood allowed only three Royals baserunners the rest of the way en route to the Rangers shut out.

Ian Kinsler also added a two-run homer as part of a three run fifth inning.

The Bad

Although it ranks right up there on the list of concerns with whether the stripes in the Surprise Stadium parking lot should be painted yellow or white, Michael Young went hitless in his two at-bats this afternoon and is now 0 for 7 on the spring.

The Ugly

In his blog this afternoon, Evan Grant brought light to a shocking bit of footage from Rangers camp that involves tight shorts wearing Kameron Loe and C.J. Wilson in a flack jacket tackling pitcher Josh Rupe, who is clad only in a speedo. For this, I give out the only Ugly mention of the day.

Notable

The Rangers take on the Rockies in Tucson tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 PM CST. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest, although the commentary will be supplied by George Frazier and Drew Goodman of FSN Rocky Mountain.
