The Texas Rangers were busy on the transaction wire on Wednesday, as the club made three moves involving the opening day roster.
The Rangers released right-handed pitcher Rick Bauer, who had been designated for assignment just a few days earlier. Bauer surrendered 15 runs on 19 hits in 6.1 innings this spring.
Two other possible bullpen candidates were stricken from the list on Wednesday, as Frank Francisco and Wes Littleton were optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma. Francisco had struggled with command problems over the spring while Littleton has had difficulties finding his mechanics.
The moves mean that sidewinding reliever Scott Feldman has officially been given the final spot in the Rangers' opening day bullpen. Feldman has a 4.05 ERA in six Cactus League appearances.
